Center for Behavioral Wellness Named in Honor of Jack and Tina Harrell

Lakeland, FL – The Lakeland Regional Health Foundation has received a transformational naming gift from Jack and Tina Harrell for its behavioral wellness capital campaign.   Currently under construction and slated to open in late summer, the new facility will be known as the Harrell Family Center for Behavioral Wellness.

Jack and Tina Harrell are longtime residents, business and civic leaders of Lakeland. They created Harrell Family Charities in September of 2016 out of a firm belief that God had richly blessed their family, and they committed to giving back what had been so graciously given to them. They aid their community through support of local charities, educational institutions, healthcare organizations and community improvement projects. Their involvement with Lakeland Regional Health includes partnering in numerous clinical programs including the Bannasch Institute for Advanced Rehabilitation Medicine, the Jack and Tina Harrell Institute for Advanced Cardiovascular Medicine, and most recently, the Harrell Family Center for Behavioral Wellness.

“Our family is passionate about helping those in our community have access to all areas of the highest quality healthcare.  As a community, we need to erase the stigma of mental illness and that is why we have decided to attach our name to this project.” said Jack Harrell of the contribution. “We are hopeful that we can help pave the way for others to join in this movement to help others understand the importance of behavioral health and wellness.”

Jack Harrell joined the Lakeland Regional Health System Board of Directors in 2006 and served as Board Chair from 2013-2015. During that time, he worked tirelessly to help progress Lakeland Regional Health into a comprehensive, state-of-the-art health system.  Jack has been honored as Advocate of the Year and both Jack and Tina were named Philanthropists of the Year by the health system this year.

“It is an incredible honor to receive this unprecedented gift.  The Harrell Family continues to play a pivotal role in helping us fulfill our mission to care for the community,” said Danielle Drummond, president and CEO of Lakeland Regional Health. “Their unwavering advocacy has been instrumental as we continue to strengthen and advance the healthcare services available to patients and their families.”

The Harrell Family Center for Behavioral Wellness is a state-of-the-art 80,000 square foot, 96-bed facility to provide greater access, quality, safety, and programming to meet the needs of the citizens of Polk County and surrounding areas.

“The people of Lakeland will directly benefit from the Harrell’s legacy of giving for decades to come,” said Tim Boynton, Lakeland Regional Health Senior Vice President of Development. “Their undeniable passion for supporting their community, and the direct impact they have made in the countless lives of others, is a profound example of how philanthropy can be transformative and lifechanging.”
