Endoscopic Gastric Balloon

The Endoscopic Balloon is another type of weight loss surgery that reduces the stomach’s capacity with a small, inflatable silicone balloon placed in the stomach. This is a reversible procedure and is minimally invasive.

What is an Endoscopic Balloon Procedure?

  • This is a procedure that is intended for patients to feel fuller by reducing the stomach’s capacity, in turn helping you lose excess weight.
  • Depending on your care team’s recommendations, the balloon may be removed after 6 months.

How is it performed?

  • Your surgeon will place a small, inflatable silicone balloon into the stomach through the mouth using an endoscope.
  • Once inside the stomach, the balloon is filled with saline solution, which takes up space in the stomach and creates a feeling of fullness.
  • The procedure only takes around 15-30 minutes to complete.

What are the Benefits of an Endoscopic Balloon Procedure?

  • The procedure is minimally invasive and does not require any incisions or sutures.
  • You are able to go home the same day as your procedure.
