GEORGE W. JENKINS

Children's Emergency Department

When your child is hurt or ill and needs emergency care, having a highly skilled team of pediatric professionals close by is essential.

The George W. Jenkins Children’s Emergency Department at the Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children provides the space and technology needed to ensure that your child receives the best possible care in a family-friendly setting.

Once you choose your provider, he or she will see you each month during your pregnancy and more often during the last month of pregnancy. Some expectant mothers may need to visit their doctor more often. Your physician or provider will be your best resource during this time as he or she monitors your health and progress and the growth and development of your baby.

Our award-winning Children’s Emergency Department provides compassionate, convenient care in a friendly setting.

  • Round-the-clock Board-certified physicians and nurses specially trained in pediatric emergency medicine
  • A friendly and interactive environment designed to give children comfort
  • Prompt, safe and efficient care that has twice earned Lakeland Regional Health prestigious awards for innovation in emergency medicine
  • 33 beds dedicated to emergency care for children
  • Separate entrance apart from adult emergency care
  • The BRAVE Program for Autistic Children
The BRAVE program at Lakeland Regional Health provides a compassionate and innovative way to help our patients who have autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder and any pervasive developmental disorders. Using evidence-based research in its creation, BRAVE helps to individualize the plan of care for children and teenagers with a sensory diagnosis to help decrease their anxiety and provide a safe and non-threatening atmosphere.  While maximizing a patient’s privacy, BRAVE allows team members and other caregivers to be aware of a child’s unique needs so each child receives personalized care.
