Center For Personalized and Preventive Cardiovascular Health

Cardiovascular medicine is undergoing a revolutionary transformation, using personalized treatment which applies precision medicine to improve outcomes and enhance quality of life.

As Lakeland Regional Health looks to advance the future of healthcare for patients and families and communities, a Center for Personalized and Preventive Cardiovascular Health is in development to bring this revolutionary knowledge to those we are privileged to serve.

Lakeland Regional Health employs a variety of diagnostic testing mediums to select appropriate and optimal therapies based upon the patient’s individual needs and circumstances. Opportunities to customize and optimize therapies based on a patient’s genetic content or other molecular or cellular analysis are tantalizingly close and we are excited to bring these life changing healthcare discoveries to our patients and families.

Through the establishment of the Center for Personalized and Preventive Cardiovascular Health, leading-edge therapies, programs and advanced diagnostic studies that allow disease risk assessment and tailored intervention will be combined to strengthen the health of those we serve. Such studies facilitate the use of pharmacogenomics which use an individual’s genome to provide more informed and tailored drug prescriptions.

Finding those at risk and providing them with personalized care is essential to proactively improve the health of our community. But heart health is not just achieved within the walls of our hospital and other locations. Meaningful dialogue in the community is essential to promote wellness, education and discovery.

Lakeland Regional Health is undertaking a variety of efforts to promote heart health within the communities it serves. We are actively performing robust community outreach that provides a variety of opportunities to learn and mobilize personal health. We are excited to continue this work through the inception of the Center for Personalized and Preventative Cardiovascular Health.

Programs currently in our heart health outreach include:

COMMUNITY WELLNESS AND EDUCATION
Preventive screenings related to heart health, including cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose, are routinely offered to the community at a variety of Lakeland Regional Health sponsored and supported events. Community education programs touching on topics related to heart health and wellness are also presented through a variety of innovative mediums including interactive cooking demonstrations, lectures from nationally recognized healthcare experts, fitness and exercise demonstrations and health fairs.

CONGREGATIONAL HEALTH PARTNERSHIP
Lakeland Regional Health’s highly successful Congregational Health Partnership program works with local congregations to empower faith communities to address the unique health needs of their congregations. As part of the Partnership, the FitChurch Challenge provides a 12-week comprehensive wellness challenge that incorporates education, exercise and fellowship to foster a collegial and beneficial competition focused on improving health. The most recent FitChurch Challenge produced impressive results including a collective loss by program participants of more than 300 pounds.

We look forward to developing new programs and education to complement implementation of personalized medicine for heart health.
