Women’s Heart Disease Center

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, accounting for 1 of every 4 female deaths.*

*According to the CDC.

Women are unique and often experience different symptoms for heart disease than those experienced by men. Therefore, evaluation and treatment specifically tailored to each individual is essential to ensure the best outcomes and safest care.

Lakeland Regional Health uses evidence-based, personalized care to help women prevent heart disease and to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. A Women’s Heart Disease Center will provide the best opportunity to strengthen the heart health of women in the communities we serve.

Through the development of a new center of excellence, we will be able to bring more knowledge, preventive care and treatment options to the women of our community. The creation of such a center will allow us to attract leaders in women’s cardiac health services and gain access to research and innovative programs focused on women’s heart health.

The Women’s Heart Disease Center offers the women of our community:

  • Comprehensive assessment of cardiovascular disease risk
  • Specialized diagnostic assessments that may include imaging studies, stress testing, lab work, and cardiac catheterization
  • Risk management through counseling and wellness education
  • Pharmacologic intervention
  • Stress management counseling
