Breast Cancer Has Many Faces

DeAnne Abell

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we introduce you to two women who walked through the doors of our Hollis Cancer Center and conquered breast cancer.

“I wasn’t sure how to feel when I found out I had cancer. I remember thinking, ‘Am I going to lose my hair?’ I finally was talking to a nurse later that day, who spoke candidly and said, ‘Yes, you’re going to lose your hair.’ That’s when I broke down. I though, ‘OK, well, this is real.'”

  • Meet Dorothy Cheshire and read about the clinical cancer trial that helped save her life.

“If I hadn’t gotten (the combination of treatments), I probably would have gotten a recurrence. The research they do is a big part of why I’m here today.”
