Lakeland Regional Health Echocardiography Lab Re-Accredited Through 2019

Lakeland, FL – Lakeland Regional Health’s Heart Center has been granted an additional three-year term of accreditation for Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.

“Our Heart Center team members work diligently to deliver the best outcomes and safest care to our patients,” said Timothy J. Regan, MD, Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center President and Lakeland Regional Health Chief Medical Officer. “This accreditation acknowledges the high standard of patient care our experienced cardiology team provides to the community.”

Echocardiography is used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease or signs of serious conditions.

Lakeland Regional Health underwent a rigorous accreditation process that included a detailed self-evaluation and a thorough review of technical components and case study assessments by a panel of medical experts.

“Lakeland Regional Health is to be commended for demonstrating your facility’s pursuit of excellence in the field of Echocardiography,” said Anne Groves, RDCS, IAC Clinical Specialist. “By demonstrating substantial compliance to the requirements outlined in the IAC Standards, you have demonstrated a commitment to quality patient care.”

The IAC accreditation is widely respected in the medical community, illustrated by the support of the national medical societies related to echocardiography, which include physicians and sonographers. The IAC has granted accreditation to more than 14,000 sites throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

In addition to a nationally recognized echocardiography program, Lakeland Regional Health’s Heart Center is proud to offer the county’s longest-accredited Chest Pain Center along with Centers of Excellence in Heart Rhythm, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Interventional Cardiology.
