by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME)

Lakeland, FL – Lakeland Regional Health is one of 2024’s Digital Health Most Wired hospitals and health systems, as announced by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). This is the tenth time that Lakeland Regional Health has earned the Most Wired recognition. Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center achieved Level 8 Acute recognition and Lakeland Regional Health ambulatory locations received Level 8 Ambulatory recognition.

“Our organization is devoted to steadily advancing and transforming healthcare by integrating advanced technology to better serve our patients and families,” said Ana Kalman, Lakeland Regional Health Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer/Chief Application Officer, Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center Chief Operating Officer. “We are so proud of our dedicated IT/IS, Informatics, Analytics and PACS Admin teams for their significant contributions to our ongoing success and national recognition and for enabling advanced care for the communities we serve.”

Among the almost 48,000 facilities represented, LRH has distinguished itself by ranking above peers in critical categories such as analytics and data management, population health, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and patient engagement. The survey evaluates the adoption, integration, and impact of technologies across healthcare organizations, from early-stage adopters to industry leaders.

“We are proud to recognize your organization’s exceptional dedication to digital health excellence,” said CHIME President and CEO, Russ Branzell. “Your pioneering performance in the industry not only inspires other organizations by example but also provides patients around the world with better care.”

In the face of escalating challenges like increasing cybersecurity threats, evolving care models, staffing shortages, and budget constraints, the urgency for revolutionizing healthcare through technology continues to grow. The next 30 years will bring profound changes, driven by emerging technologies. We anticipate that advancements in digital health—facilitated by fully interoperable data, artificial intelligence, and secure platforms—will significantly transform the landscape of care. A strategic roadmap will be essential to navigate these changes.

The Digital Health Most Wired survey and recognition program serves as a comprehensive “Digital Health Check-up” for healthcare organizations globally. As success in digital health increasingly influences patient care quality, the CHIME Digital Health Most Wired survey reflects the progress of leading healthcare providers as they reshape healthcare for the future. This achievement extends beyond information technology, symbolizing a collective organizational commitment to enhancing healthcare through advanced digital health strategies.

Among the advanced technologies that Lakeland Regional Health now employs:

  • Sophisticated patient engagement tools that provide near real-time access to patient clinical information, in addition to providing the ability to have telehealth visits, schedule appointments, and pay online
  • Comprehensive adoption of electronic health record workflows
  • Extensive cybersecurity technology to safeguard patient and team member records
  • Comprehensive analytics and data management services to support inpatient care quality, population health activities, and financial outcomes

“At Lakeland Regional Health, we implement secure technology and advanced treatments to ensure a seamless patient experience. We are thrilled to have received this recognition for the tenth time. We will continue integrating technology into our organization’s mission as we continue to place patients at the heart of all we do,” said Stacy Bolton, Lakeland Regional Health Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer/Chief Technology Officer.
