For those who need a higher level of support than weekly therapy, but who do not require (or have just finished) inpatient hospitalization, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers an ideal middle path.
A Structured Program with the Flexibility You Need
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides structured treatment several days a week while allowing you to continue living at home and carrying on with daily responsibilities. At Lakeland Regional Health, our IOP meets three days a week for four hours per day, creating a concentrated therapeutic environment that can accelerate recovery.
The goal is to help patients build coping skills, stabilize their mood or behavior, and prevent relapse or hospitalization, all in a supportive outpatient setting.
Our IOP consists of:
- Group therapy
- Individual counseling
- Educational sessions
- Regular check-ins with our psychiatry team for any needed medication management
Conditions we commonly treat in IOP:
- Moderate to severe depression
- Anxiety disorders
- Bipolar disorder
- And challenges that significantly impact daily functioning, but can be managed safely outside the hospital

- We also coordinate with our outpatient therapy and psychiatry services for follow-up once the IOP concludes.
Evidence-Based Curriculum with Real-Life Focus: Our IOP uses evidence-based therapeutic models like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, relapse prevention techniques, and wellness education.
