Pediatric Care at the Barnett Pavilion

At the Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children, our pediatric care teams provide expert care in a supportive, family-centered environment.

Care Designed for Children

Our pediatric services are thoughtfully created to meet the unique needs of children and families in our community.

Pediatric services include:

Comforts That Make a Difference

Because healing involves more than medical care, our pediatric areas include amenities to help children and families feel more at ease:

  • Private patient rooms with family sleep areas and private bathrooms
  • In-room movies
  • Pediatric playroom with activities, music and safe play zones
  • LED room lighting that allows patients to choose their own custom color

Our George W. Jenkins Children’s Emergency Department located in the Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children is Polk County’s only dedicated Children’s Emergency Department that provides a full-service care delivery system to make sure your child is safe and comfortable.

Designed specifically with children in mind, our 33-bed Children’s Emergency Department provides a child-friendly environment with activities to help keep children busy and make them feel welcome. We offer care around the clock by board-certified physicians, advanced practitioners, and registered nurses with expertise in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

In addition, we collaborate with the world-renowned Nemours Children’s Health System to provide pediatric subspecialty care.

Child Life Specialists

Hospital visits can be stressful for children and families. Our child life specialists provide support and guidance to help children cope, understand procedures, and feel more comfortable during their stay.

Through play, education, and personalized interventions, they focus on making the hospital experience as positive and family-centered as possible.

The BRAVE Program

The BRAVE Program at Lakeland Regional Health provides a compassionate and innovative way to help our patients who have autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder and any pervasive developmental disorders. Using evidence-based research in its creation, BRAVE helps to individualize the plan of care for children and teenagers with a sensory diagnosis to help decrease their anxiety and provide a safe and non-threatening atmosphere.  While maximizing a patient’s privacy, BRAVE allows team members and other caregivers to be aware of a child’s unique needs so each child receives personalized care.

This video explains the BRAVE Program and what you can do as a parent or caregiver to make visits to the Medical Center less stressful.

If you would like to learn more about the program, please call our Child Life team at 863.687.1100 (ext. 2424).
