Since our beginnings as Morrell Memorial Hospital, Lakeland Regional Health has provided more than a century of service to Lakeland and all communities across Central Florida.

1916

Morrell Memorial Hospital opens to the public on South Missouri Avenue with 65 beds and 24 employees.

1918

The first baby is born at Morrell Memorial Hospital.

1926

100-bed Morrell Memorial Hospital moves to the hospital’s present location on Lakeland Hills Boulevard.

1959

Morrell Memorial Hospital becomes Lakeland General Hospital, with a new 302-bed facility.

1967

Lakeland General expands to include East/West towers.

1974

Lakeland General builds the Morrell Wing addition.

1986

C wing opens at the newly named Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

1997

Lakeland Regional Health Systems becomes a partner in Lakeland Surgical and Diagnostic Center.

2003

Oncology services expand to its own campus, Lakeland Regional Cancer Center.

2004

Six-story B Wing opens at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

2008

Lakeland Regional affiliates with Radiology and Imaging Specialists.

2012

Family Health Center opens as a medical home for the uninsured and underinsured.

2013

Clark & Daughtrey Medical Group, P.A., joins with Lakeland Regional Health Systems.

2013

Affiliation formed with USF Health to provide neurosurgery services to our community.

2015

Lakeland Regional Health name is introduced to reflect our focus on community health both inside and beyond our hospital walls.

2015

The Bannasch Institute for Advanced Rehabilitation Medicine opens on the sixth floor of the Medical Center.

2015

Lakeland Regional Health affiliates with Nemours Children’s Health System to provide pediatric specialty care to the community.

2015

Hollis Cancer Center named in honor of Mark C. Hollis.

2016

Grasslands Campus opens to house primary and specialty care.

2018

Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children opens at the Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center Campus
